Seems like I've been working for a decade now, but its hardly been two years since I first step into the big bad corporate world. I was myself bit by the creative/offbeat career bug when I started off. Well call it ignorance or immaturity, but I thought I was too smart to be doing a boring mechanised job inspite of being decently compensated. I wanted excitement, freshness and some kind of spontaniety in a job!
Whaaat?! Who's ever heard of a job being exciting !!!
Well, as a fresher I didn't know that! So I went hopping from one job to the other looking for the 'perfect one' ..... And Eureka!
I realised there is no such thing as an exciting job. After the first two months, the fancy wears off, any and every job seems mechanised and you feel reduced to a cog in the wheel. Ultimately what keeps you tied to the job is the money. Its a constant inflow of money, and no human (at least the ones I know) is strong enough to renounce wordly desires and tear his six-figure paycheque and toss them into the bin.
So, my young friends, as much as you feel like following your dreams and taking up a offbeat career that fulfills your creative instincts, giving an outlet to your over-secreting creative juices, remember me and my words.
A job is a lot like love. New love/first love/first job/new job is always exciting. However, after few months it becomes a routine, in a few years you feel stagnated and claustrophobic and are dying to get out of it. When you are going to feel pathetic and horrible any which way, might as well get a fat paycheque out of it, which you can use for some retail therapy !

Marketing Idiots
This goes out to all those idiots who call themselves Marketing & Brand Managers and do not know a sheeet about Search Engine Marketing.
Search Engine Marketing professionals, commonly known as SEM guys or as one Mr. John calls them Sex - Search Engine Experts, are a rare breed mostly found staring into their computer screens, analysing and super analysing the slightest peak or fall in the cost of their campaign. A rise and fall of a rupee or half gives them sleepless nights and anxiety attacks. No, they're not geeks, I repeat they're not geeks. They're just overtly passionate about their work.
SEM falls into the purview of Performance based Marketing wherein you can track the ROI on your marketing efforts. They work on the 'Pull Strategy', wherein a marketer only spends his hard earned money on customers who want to know about his product and not on some random jerk who'll flip channels when his ad shows on television.
With internet industry growing at phenomenol rates in India, its high time marketers here realised how to effectively conduct their business online and promote the same in a cost effective way. Gone are the days when a marketer printed an advertisement in the top-daily newspaper leading to huge amounts of media wastage and disinterested eyeballs. Aerosmith in Bengawtever!
The latest to join the bandwagon of 'have been celebs' coming to India hoping to earn some money out of a concert.
I dont hate them. I love 'Crazy' and a few more of their songs. But I'm really pissed off that they decided to change the concert venue to Bangalore. My friends from Hyderabad finally decided to visit Bombay for the concert and after a few weeks I hear that the venue has been changed to frikkin Bengalluru ! The city doesn't even have a proper name, so what if they have lower taxes! I want my friends in Bombay......!!
So now the trip has been canned and if I want to see them I'll have to pack my bags and fly to Bangalore! Too much money will be spent for a band I dont even care that much about.
Come U2, anyday, anytime I won't think twice about flying to any feecking corner of the country!
